The Flag Shop opened its doors in Whittier, CA June 1, 1985. Jan Mericle and her husband, Joe, moved The Flag Shop to Whittier from La Crescenta and selected a storefront in the Uptown Whittier business district adjacent to the historic Bank of America building at Greenleaf & Philadelphia Streets. The devastating Whittier narrows earthquake of October 1, 1987 forced our evacuation of that space due to the extensive damage to the building.
Next, we relocated to a small store on Painter Avenue. With only 750 square feet of space for our workroom plus retail area and our ever-expanding product line, we eventually outgrew that location and moved to a large office building just next door. Here, at 7731 Painter Avenue, we have remained ever since. The building space was remodeled to accommodate our retail store, showroom and workroom where we produce our own appliqued and custom-made flags and banners.
Prior to purchasing The Flag Shop Jan was a Registered Nurse specializing in Obstetrics. Her foray into the world of business came at the encouragement of husband, Joe, who is also a local businessman, owner of the professional accounting practice, Joe C. Mericle, MBA, CPA.
The Flag Shop fills a unique niche market and is proud to have been part of the Whittier business community for over 27 years. With membership in the Chambers of Commerce of both Whittier and Santa Fe Springs and as a member of a Soroptimist International of Whittier it has been our privilege to meet and work with so many neighbors and friends.
Our service area is ever-expanding and we can easiliy fulfill the flag and banner needs of the whole of the USA. Our in-store inventory is extensive and features both indoor and outdoor flags, banners, windsocks, pennants, poles, hardware and decorative items for use all year long.
United States flags,made in USA, are of the finest quality and materials. International and state flags, historic flags. Armed Forces flags are readily available in our store. Decorative and seasonal flags and banners have become an important part of our business and have graced the front of many homes in Whittier and throughout the country.
Should the need arise for a custom-made design, we can produce these in-house for a sewn/appliqued design or will provide excellent quality digitally printed flags for those more complexc layouts.

Orders placed after 2 p.m. will be shipped the following business day. We ship Monday - Friday, excluding holidays. No delivery to PO Boxes with UPS. You must provide a physical street address. Please include unit, apt., and space numbers. Deliveries made via USPS can be made to a PO Box.

~Returns and Exchanges~:
Our merchandise will be accepted for exchange or refund up to 30 days from the date of the original shipment. Must be accompanied by a copy of your receipt. Items returned for refund are subject to a restocking fee.
Merchandise will be accepted for exchange or refund provided it is in new condition, in the original packaging. Orders that are refused upon delivery, or marked "refused", "return to sender", or "undeliverable" will be subject to a restocking fee.
Shipping charges are non-refundable. Return shipping charges are the responsbility of the customer.
After 30 days, all sales are considered final!

All decorative flags and stock flags up to and including 4' x 6' in size will incur a 10% restocking fee. All accessories, flags larger than 4' x 6', poles and yard decor will incur a 15% restocking fee.
